The last two lines were scratched hastily, scribbled. The first was cut deeply, neatly.

She stared at them, wondering what they meant. They'd been important to her, she thought. Before the battles... before the ring, the spotlight, and the cheering crowds. The sarcophagus awaited gladiators who died; she forgot why that was bad; she always felt stronger after resurrecting.

But always she fought to win.

Not for glory.

Not for fame.

For a name scratched on her wall.
